About fluconazole

What does it do?

Thrush is a fungal infection, commonly caused by a type of yeast called candida. Although candida is naturally present in the body, an imbalance can trigger thrush symptoms. Fluconazole 150mg (also known as Diflucan and other brand names) kills certain types of fungi and restores your body's natural balance.

Taking fluconazole for the first time

Fluconazole treatment for thrush is simple - just one capsule to be swallowed with a glass of water. You can take this medicine at any time of day, with or without a meal.

How effective is it?

Women taking fluconazole should see an improvement within a few days. Some women will notice improvement in 24 hours.

For men, the condition can take a little longer to clear up. The symptoms should clear up within a few days, although this can take up to a week.

If your condition hasn't cleared up within one week, you should consult a doctor.

Cautions when using fluconazole

Thrush is an infection which can occur without sexual contact, so it is not a sexually transmitted disease. However, the infection can be passed on during sex, so it is recommended that you should not have sex until the infection has cleared up.

If you regularly suffer from thrush, then it's advisable that both you and your partner have thrush treatment at the same time.

Taking too much can make you unwell, so contact your doctor or nearest hospital immediately if you take more than you should.

Side effects of fluconazole

As with any medicine, there are side effects. Although a serious allergic reaction to fluconazole is rare. Common side effects (occurring in one in ten patients) include nausea, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, wind, rash and headache. However, these side effects are usually mild and don't tend to last long. If symptoms persist, or are particularly severe, contact your doctor.

A full list of side effects is available in the manufacturer's.

When not to take fluconazole

You should not take fluconazole while you are pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding.

Tell your doctor before taking fluconazole if:

  • Have liver or kidney problems.
  • Suffer from heart disease, including heart rhythm problems.
  • Have abnormal levels of potassium, calcium, or magnesium in your blood.

While diflucan is a highly effective medication for many patients, it is not without its side effects. One of the most common adverse reactions that patients experience when taking diflucan is an increased risk of developing a fungal infection. These reactions are generally reversible and will typically resolve on their own. However, there are rare instances of a more severe allergic reaction to diflucan. In some cases, it is necessary to have a skin test to determine if you are at risk of getting a fungal infection. It is important to follow the instructions provided by your healthcare professional or local hospital. In most cases, this is an early warning sign of an allergic reaction to diflucan. Patients should be monitored for any unusual or worsening symptoms, such as rash, itching, or difficulty breathing.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, stop taking diflucan and contact your doctor immediately:

  • Sudden, severe, or severe allergic reaction
  • Fever
  • Swelling of the lips, tongue, or face
  • Loss of appetite
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of the mouth or tongue
  • Difficulty swallowing or breathing

It is important to take diflucan exactly as directed by your doctor. The dosage and duration of treatment are determined by your doctor based on your individual response and tolerability. Do not adjust the dosage of your medication without consulting your healthcare provider. Do not stop taking diflucan abruptly without consulting your doctor first.

It is important to follow your doctor’s instructions when taking diflucan.

I have heard of Diflucan but have not found a safe place to purchase it. Is this a safe and convenient method to buy? Also, are there any side effects from taking this medication? Is the generic form of this medication approved by the FDA? I have seen many different brands of Diflucan, but have not found one that works as well as generic Fluconazole. Thanks for any help.

P. S. I am on a 150mg oral dose of fluconazole. Is it safe?C. D. T. E. A. O. L.

The diflucan brand name is Diflucan, and the generic form is fluconazole. I am also on 150mg and 400mg tablets and have not found any of the generic formulations. The only difference I would make is that I take the pill with food to reduce stomach acid. If you have a stomach problem like I have, the generic version should be safe. I would start with 150mg.

I am on 150mg of diflucan and I am having some side effects that I don't want to take. I started on Diflucan and I am taking it for the first time. The only difference I would make is that the pill would be on a different strength from the pill. I would still start with 150mg but the dosage would be the same. I am taking this medication for two weeks before going on a dose and see how things go.

Thanks for your help!
